He ascended to the throne in the year 4E 168. Titus Mede II is the reigning Emperor of Tamriel in 4E 201. Motierre would claim that the death of Titus Mede would bring about a necessary change in Imperial policy, and that his death served both the Empire and all of Tamriel. The Emperor would be assassinated by the Dark Brotherhood on board his ship. The death of the emperor does not have any effects on main quests, the DLC/add-on storyline or any other faction quests except for the Dark Brotherhood, where you just completed the biggest task for them in ages. What does killing the emperor do in Skyrim? Dragonborn (including the player character from Skyrim) were considered to have a blessing of one of the Nine Divines (Hail Talos!).
